Lately, many of the VDL Groep businesses have shifted their focus from production to consulting and development. Their various technological innovations are used by high-tech companies such as BMW and ASML.
The jury praised the combination of robotization with the attention for the employees of the VDL Groep. Also, the remarkable growth of the company through bold and specific investments did not go unnoticed. In addition, the jury was positive about the social impact. VDL Groep plays an important role in the electrification of transport, such as the electronic bus.
The award is linked to the Dutch Innovation Monitor, a large-scale survey carried out annually by the Amsterdam Centre for Business Innovation at the Amsterdam Business School.
Participation in the Dutch Innovation Monitor is a requirement to be nominated for the Dutch Innovation Prize. The survey is led by Henk Volberda, professor of Strategic Management and Innovation and director of the Amsterdam Centre for Business Innovation. This year, 800 organisations partook in the Monitor.
