The DX300 is commissioned by MT/Sprout, an organisation that focuses on business innovation. The ranking identifies which companies in the Netherlands are leaders in digital transformation and which companies facilitate this transformation. This resulted in 2 lists of 150 organisations each naming leaders and enablers in digital transformation.
The ranking was compiled based on a survey among 3,176 corporate decision-makers. Together, the respondents assessed 1,544 organisations on various criteria related to digital transformation.
The banks ING (1st place) and ABN Amro (4th) place show that the financial sector is making large strides in digital transformation. This is an interesting development where more established names are overtaking startups in the fintech field.
KPN leads the Enablers ranking this year. Part of the reason for this is that KPN works for clients who were ranked at or near the top of the Leaders ranking (such as ING or Bol.com).
‘Some sectors are lagging behind, such as the automotive industry. And municipal and provincial governments also score poorly when it comes to digital transformation- Prof. Henk Volberda
Volberda was surprised by ING’s 1st place ranking: ‘This is a bank that recently had problems with obsolete automation systems. But in spite of this handicap, they managed to succeed in digital transformation.’ The UvA professor also points out some concerns that need to be addressed. ‘Some sectors are lagging behind, such as the automotive industry. And municipal and provincial governments also score poorly when it comes to digital transformation,’ says Volberda.
Both rankings and more information about various sectors represented in the DX300 can be viewed on the MT/Sprout website.
