For whom?
Candidates with an academic Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in actuarial science, econometrics, chemistry, physics, mathematics or similar quantitative training. Upon completion of the programme, you will meet the admission requirements for the post-Master’s in Actuarial Practice Cycle.

Based on your previous education, we will create a personalised learning plan with all the courses you need to complete to be admitted to the APC programme. If there are overlaps with your previous education, you will receive an exemption for those parts of the programme.

How to apply
1. Request an intake assessment
Request an intake assessment and we will check if you are eligible and which courses you need to take. We will respond within 3 working days. Based on your previous education and academic background, you will receive one of the following outcomes:
- Direct admission to the post-Master's Actuarial Practice Cycle: you meet the admission requirements and can register directly.
- Admission to the transition programme: you receive a personalised list of required courses and electives.
- Not admissible: your previous education does not sufficiently match the admission requirements (at least a quantitative Bachelor's degree is required).

2. Choose your study route
All courses are part of the regular Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Actuarial Science. Depending on your background and preferred way of studying, you can complete a course in one of two ways:
- Participate in the regular courses: attend lectures, complete assignments and take the final exam. Offered once per year. After passing, you receive an official UvA course certificate.
- Exam only: study independently using the available course materials and take the final written exam. Exams are offered twice per year, with a retake option. A passing grade (6.0 or higher) counts as an exemption within the Transition Programme, but does not result in an official UvA certificate. You may sit a maximum of two Exam Only exams per semester.
Which option suits you?
Choose course participation if you want guidance throughout the course and an official certificate. Choose Exam Only if you already have sufficient prior knowledge and want to complete your deficiencies more quickly.

3. Register for the courses in your personalised study plan
To register for the courses in your personalised study plan, contact the programme office. They will provide you with all the information you need about practical matters and the rest of the registration process. Please note: to complete your registration, you must upload a copy of a valid passport or identity card.
Obtain a (second) Master’s degree
You can also use the transition programme to obtain a Master’s degree (or a second Master’s degree). To do so, you have to complete courses from the Master’s in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance and write a Master’s thesis.
Please note: if you want to pursue a second Master’s degree, you can get an exemption of up to 15 EC, except for the Master’s thesis, which is mandatory.
Cost
Per course: €1,500
Master’s thesis: €3,250
What is included?
Regular tuition covers all lectures, a final exam and any resits for the modules. Exam Only covers a final exam and maximum of 1 resit. Textbooks are not included and cost around €100 per course.
Payment
Once you have started the programme, you will receive an invoice for your tuition fees, which you can pay in instalments.
