*Candidates from countries outside the EU should apply 1 month before the deadline, as they require an entry visa (MVV) and residence permit for the Netherlands.

Admission requirements

Please check the admission requirements before you start your application process.

  • Academic credentials

    A degree (Bachelor, Master, PhD) from a recognised research university.

  • Relevant work experience

    A minimum of 3 years post-graduate full-time work experience. Internships in a financial field may also be included.  

  • Analytical test

    You can choose to do a GMAT / GRE test or do an in-house test.

    • GMAT / GRE: the suggested minimum GMAT score is 630, for GMAT Focus 585. GRE scores will be converted to GMAT.
    • Analytical in-house test: scoring on Numerical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning.

  • English proficiency

    A minimum TOEFL of 100 or IELTS score of 7.0 is required. You may be exempt from this requirement, if you:  

    • are a native English speaker;  
    • have 2 years of international English-spoken professional experience;  
    • have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree taught in English*;  
    • have graduated from Dutch pre-university secondary education (‘VWO’ in Dutch).  

    Exemptions can only be confirmed once the admissions committee has received and reviewed your full application file.  

    * Please note that your degree certificate or transcripts should mention that the language of instruction was English. If the language of instruction is not mentioned on the transcript or degree certificate, you will need to submit a letter from your higher education institution stating that the curriculum was completely taught in English. 

Pre-Master’s programme

If you have obtained your degree at a University of Applied Sciences (HBO) in the Netherlands, you will need to successfully complete our pre-Master's programme to qualify for entry into this programme.

How to apply

Check your eligibility

Upload your CV and we will check if you are eligible for this study. We will respond within 3 business days. 

If you meet the criteria, you will receive an invitation to officially register via our online application tool.

  • 1. Submit your online application

    In order to complete your online application, you need to upload the following documents in the online registration tool.  

    • Passport copy  
    • 1-page CV  
    • Motivation statement. In the application form, we ask you to answer 4 short questions about your motivation and decision for applying to the programme.  
    • Copies of transcripts and related diplomas from your highest completed degree. All transcripts not in Dutch or English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.  
    • Analytical test results: GMAT/GRE/LTP Assessment (if applicable) 
    • English proficiency test results: TOEFL/IELTS (if applicable)  
    • 2 professional references from a current or former manager, supervisor, client or senior colleague. In the online form, you will be asked to provide their names and contact details, and they will receive access to submit their forms separately.  
  • 2. LTP Assessment or GMAT (if applicable)

    If your application is complete, you may be invited to take the analytical test, if applicable. Candidates are free to choose to if they want to take the LTP Assessment or a GMAT (Focus) test. This does not apply for candidates with an MSc degree or PhD. 

    • LTP Assessment: the LTP Assessment takes around 2 hours and costs €150. You can take the assessment in your own time at any time you find convenient. Information about the test will be provided after the interview. The costs of the test will be deducted from your enrolment fee in case you enrol in the programme. 

  • 3. Admissions interview

    This 45-minute interview will focus on your skill-set, motivation and career goals. It is scheduled on campus or via Zoom/Teams and is conducted by an admissions board member who has reviewed your application files. 

  • Final decision

    The admissions board decides within a few days after the interview, whether there is a match between the MBA in Finance programme and your profile.

Enrolment fee

If you are admitted to the programme, a non-refundable enrolment fee of €5,200 is required to secure your place. This amount will be deducted from your total tuition fee. 

What is included in the costs of this MBA?

The fee covers the whole programme including courses and exams, registration, use of university facilities and a part of the international study trip. Text books and software are not included (approx. €300 - €500). 

Payment

You can pay your tuition fees in 3 equal instalments spread across the duration of the programme. 

UvA alumni discount

If you have a bachelor's or master's degree from the University of Amsterdam, you are eligible for a discount of €4,000 on your tuition fee.

Funding
