The Amsterdam Centre for Business Innovation (ACBI) collected the data used to compile DX300 digital transformation ranking. The survey to collect the data was led by the ACBI’s Henk Volberda, professor of Strategic Management and Innovation at the University of Amsterdam.

The DX300 is commissioned by MT/Sprout, an organisation that focuses on business innovation. The ranking identifies which companies in the Netherlands are leaders in digital transformation and which companies facilitate this transformation. This resulted in 2 lists of 150 organisations each. The list identifies Leaders and Enablers in digital transformation.

The ranking was compiled based on a survey among 4.816 corporate decision-makers. Together, the respondents assessed 1,555 organisations on various criteria related to digital transformation.

Financial institutions among Leaders

The bank ING placed first for the second year in a row. The e-commerce company Coolblue entered the top 10 Leaders list for the first time. Surprisingly, the Dutch multinational Philips didn't make the top 10 this year, coming in at number 11. Another new Leaders entry in this year's top 10 was the insurer a.s.r.

The enablers

Just like last year, ICT services provider KPN leads the Enablers ranking this year. Finance and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) companies dominated the top 10, and includes companies such as AFAS, Currence, Exact and Klarna.

Concerns

Volberda voiced some concerns about the use of AI in business. 'AI helps companies become more efficient. At first glance this looks good. But there's a risk that companies will start resembling each other too much. This makes them less competitive with each other because they all operate in more or less the same way. One of our researchers is studying this development'.
