This series introduces us to a different employee each week. Find out what they love about their job and learn things you might not know about them yet. This week: lecturer at the Strategy & International Business section Marten Stienstra.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the variety! No 2 days are ever the same. Throughout the year, I teach various courses, each at different times and in different stunning buildings across the University of Amsterdam. I also collaborate with companies, and we often host the final workshops at their headquarters. Another great perk is stepping out and instantly being part of the vibrant city life of Amsterdam.

Which project from the past year are you most proud of?

The bachelor internship that I coordinate. This year, no fewer than 160 EB students completed their internship projects at a wide range of organisations, both large and small, at home and abroad. Some of our students made such a strong impression that they were offered jobs immediately. I’m proud to say I don’t do this alone, but with the support of an entire team of dedicated teachers and colleagues. I am truly grateful for their tireless efforts.

What might your colleagues not know about you?

I once ran my own solar panel business. I didn’t just manage things from the officebut occasionally climbed onto roofs to install panels myself. And we have a cat at home named after a metro station in Paris.
