Necessity social entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship out of economic necessity rather than pulled by market opportunities—sometimes combined with fulfilling social needs—is attracting growing attention. However, welfare states show a phenomenon unaccounted for in both necessity and social entrepreneurship literatures, conceptualized in this project as necessity social enterpreneurship. This dissertation explores this phenomenon both theoretically and empirically, using in-depth empirical evidence from the Netherlands in particular.
