Summary

The aim of my dissertation is to improve the understanding of the role of behavioural finance for price outcomes in the Dutch housing market. Three topics are studied. First, the impact of sentiment on volatility in the boom and bust cycle is determined. Second, it is determined whether a shock in sentiment asymmetrically and heterogeneously affects households in the housing market. Finally, the impact of bidding behaviour on price outcomes is studied.
