Dr. Sumeet Malik is an Assistant Professor at UvA (Amsterdam). He received his Ph.D. from IE Madrid and pursued his postdoc at IESE Madrid. His research explores how market players interact with regulatory and social institutions. His research has appeared in prestigious outlets such as the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (When entrepreneurial rhetoric meets strict regulations: Implications for the valuation of health science firms. https://doi.org/10.1002/sej.1396) and a book chapter in Foundational Research in Entrepreneurship Studies (Fool’s Gold or Gold Rush? An Entrepreneurial Dilemma. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-73528-3_11). His research won the best Ph.D. paper award (KI) at SMS 2021 and was a finalist for the best Ph.D. paper (TIM) at AOM 2020. He regularly reviews for top journals and on the Editorial Review Board of the Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.

In his non-academic work life, Sumeet has been a market researcher in the US and a media manager and television producer in Bollywood, India. He has an MBA from Pepperdine University, where he was a scholarship student. With the help of his lovely wife, Sumeet is also trying to parent an outgoing girl and a shy boy.
