This 2023 ranking is based on Scopus citations. Ranking scores are compiled using a combination of different metrics such as raw citation counts, h-index, and individual h-index. The h-index is an indicator of a researcher's productivity and impact. 

This is an exceptional achievement, given that Kolk has been using an interdisciplinary approach focusing on groundbreaking corporate responsibility and sustainability topics for a long time. Until recently, these topics received relatively limited attention in mainstream business and management studies. Kolk is also ranked amongst the top-25 academics in business and management worldwide in what is referred to as a 10-year publication cohort.
