A recently published research paper by 3 Amsterdam Business School (ABS) researchers and an RSM co-author has been included in the top 10 of most downloaded works. The top 10 is selected from high quality peer-reviewed journals. The list was compiled by Wiley, a global online publisher of scientific journals.

Researchers Kevin Heij, Rick Hollen and Henk Volberda (all part of the ABS Strategy & International Business section) and Frans van den Bosch (RSM, Rotterdam School of Management) published the paper How to leverage the impact of R&D on product innovation? The moderating effect of management innovation in the journal R&D Management in March 2020.

The high number of downloads reflects the level of relevance and interest in the researcher’s findings.

Management innovation is key

The researchers explored the effects of innovation in management on R&D (research and development) effectiveness in terms of product innovation. They found that high levels of management innovation could be a more competitive advantage that just R&D on its own. One of their conclusions was that ‘management innovation is a key moderator in explaining firms’ effectiveness in transforming R&D into successful product innovation’.
