The Post-Master Accountancy is a 2-year programme that constitutes the final step of the theoretical training to become a chartered accountant. The PMA comprises a total of 60 EC and covers the following courses:
Deepen your understanding of the accounting profession, the role of accountants, the audit process and relevant national and international laws and regulations.
Delve into the general (legal) framework of financial reporting. Enhance your accounting knowledge and explore the requirements for the management report, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations.
Acquaint yourself with the foundations, theories and applicable models within ICAIS. Learn to establish, analyse and evaluate various systems and processes through real-world case studies.
Gain a foundational understanding of data science in auditing and develop a data-driven audit approach of your own.
Master the art of designing, analysing, and evaluating internal control systems, starting from the international COSO standards.
Explore how Dutch companies record their transactions and events in financial statements. Learn about Dutch laws and regulations pertaining to financial reporting, including the guidelines of the Dutch Accounting Standards Board.
This course focuses on accountants’ knowledge, insight and application of laws and regulations. It covers the accountant’s role and responsibilities, as well as the interplay between these aspects.
In this integration course, you’ll acquire tools to excel in practical scenarios through presentation training and role play. Additionally, you learn how to engage in systematic discussions about current affairs and the societal role of accountants.
You will complete the PMA in conjunction with the 3-year practical training programme in Assurance. This falls under the purview of the Royal Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBA). This training is completed on the job. You can begin it directly when you start the PMA. The final year of the practical training programme starts upon completion of the PMA. In this 3rd year, you prepare a presentation. For supervision, you can seek assistance from the UvA presentation groups. The information about the English presentation groups will become available in due course.
