Hybrid Intelligence for Automated Negotiation and Negotiation Support
Negotiation (support) software agents either negotiate on behalf of their users, or advise their users on what to bid, when to accept, and when to walk away. The current developments in Large Language Models (LLM) and RAGs come with the promise of solving your negotiation needs. In this talk, you will get an update on the state of the art in Automated Negotiation and Negotiation Support Systems, including their limitations. You will learn about a way to use a combination of LLMs and dedicated negotiation support systems that allows you to monitor closely how good the offers are that you receive and intend to send out from both your perspective as well as the estimated perspective of the other party.
Prof. Dr. Catholijn Jonker is head of the Interactive Intelligence group at TU Delft and professor of Explainable AI at Leiden University. She is a Fellow of EurAI, member of Academia Europaea, principal investigator at AMS, and coordinator of the Hybrid Intelligence Centre. Among many recognitions, she was awarded the 2024 Autonomous Agents Research Award. Her work addresses hybrid intelligence and interactive intelligent processes such as negotiation, teamwork, and the dynamics of individual agents. In particular, she works towards intelligent agents that can interact with their users in value-conflicting situations when also meta-values no longer solve the situation and negotiation is needed. The ENHub Quarterly is an online meeting open to all ENHub members and the interested public. During this event, we engage with cutting-edge research, current trends, and practical challenges in the field of negotiation. This event will primarily focus on recent academic work and its practical implications.
The event is free of charge, but registration is required. The meeting link will be automatically shared with all registered participants. You are very welcome to share the registration link and event details with colleagues or others who may find the topic of interest.
