Prof. Miša Džoljić has been appointed professor of Healthcare Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).

Džoljić’s research will focus on healthcare management and operations. The majority of his previous work focussed on the working mechanism of anesthetics at the cellular level. At the UvA, Džoljić will be responsible for the MBA in Healthcare Management at the UvA’s Amsterdam Business School. 

About Džoljić 

Since 2020, Džoljić has been professor of Healthcare Management at Nyenrode Business University. Between 2012 and 2020, he was rector magnificus and Executive Board president at Nyenrode. From 2005 to 2012, he was vice-dean and member of the Board of Directors at AMC-UvA.  

From 1999 to 2006, he was a member of the management team and then head of the Department of Anesthesiology and professor of Anesthesiology at the AMC-UvA. In 1996, he received his PhD in anesthesiology from the UvA, and from 1998 to 1999 studied for an Executive MBA from Nyenrode and the Simon School of Business Administration in Rochester, USA. Džoljic studied medicine, with a specialisation in anesthesiology, at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, graduating in 1987.  

Among the many administrative positions Džoljić has held are: From 2006 to 2012, he was on the Supvisory Board of Bascule (children’s psychiatric clinic). Between 2011 and 2013, he was a board member of the Netherlands Association of Trauma Centres. In addition, he has been a member of the Supervisory Boards of AT Osborne and Pro Senectute since 2017 and 2020, respectively.
