7 October 2026
On Wednesday 21 October, Wijnberg will speak about the collection at SPUI25.
Middle management science, published at the end of September 2026, explores freedom and unfreedom, prices and quantities, debts and bankers. The collection also considers how economic roles shape our humanity. Central to the book is the figure of the middle manager. Does every manager not also have another manager above them? And does that, in a sense, make us all middle managers?
Wijnberg is a poet, novelist and winner of the P.C. Hooft Prize. Alongside numerous poetry collections, he has published 5 novels. His work has been translated internationally and received literary awards in the Netherlands and Belgium. In his new collection, Wijnberg connects economic themes with personal and societal questions. What decision-making power do middle managers have? How do they relate to markets, organisations and one another? And what can poetry offer managers?
During the event, Wijnberg will discuss these questions with poet Hannah van Binsbergen.
