Sezin Ekinci is a PhD candidate in Marketing, with a focus on Consumer Behavior, at the University of Amsterdam. Before starting her PhD, she completed a Research Master’s degree in Social Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Koç University.
Her research focuses on understanding the psychological barriers and drivers of sustainable consumption, examining both the effectiveness and potential unintended consequences of interventions designed to promote sustainable behavior. She studies topics such as consumers’ perceived entitlement to consume, responses to brand activism and plant-based defaults, ethical consumption as a source of differentiation, and perceptions of social tipping points. Her work has been published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology.
