What will you learn?

You will gain the insight, data, and foresight to protect value and position your organisation to thrive in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

By the end of this programme, you will be able to:

  1. understand the challenges facing the fossil-fuel in a low-carbon transition;
  2. analyse key EU and US climate mitigation policies and their impact on financial markets;
  3. evaluate how taxes, standards, cap-and-trade systems influence asset stranding;
  4. conduct cost-benefit analyses from multiple perspectives (governments, firms, investors);
  5. recognise why consistent long-term policy and planning are essential to reducing stranded-asset risk;
  6. integrate mitigation and transition effects into business strategies, investment decisions, and risk models.

Teaching staff

Dr. Renaud Coulomb is a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. His research in environmental and resource economics focuses on the impacts of climate change mitigation on energy resource use and on the value of energy firms and their assets.
