For whom?

This course is ideal for accountants, regulators, and financial reporting professionals such as CFOs, financial directors, controllers, management accountants with any level of experience. The course covers intermediate-level valuation techniques and intermediate to advanced accounting valuation topics. Basic accounting knowledge is required. Valuation knowledge is not a prerequisite, as we will build into valuation theory and practice from the basics to more complex topics.

What will you learn?

By the end of the programme you will have actionable tools, sharper insights, and a stronger ability to question, interpret, and apply valuations in practice. Through lectures, case studies, and interactive participation, you will:

  1. gain detailed understanding of fair value measurement concepts and explore fair value accounting standards in detail. Including topics such as fair value, purchase price allocation, and impairment testing;
  2. understand the differences between majority and minority stake valuations, share classes, and public vs private equities;
  3. learn how to recognise uncertainties in assumptions, evaluate results critically, and strengthen your role in safeguarding the transparency and quality of financial reporting;
  4. avoid common pitfalls in the valuation scope and process;
  5. practice applying valuation techniques to real-world cases.

Teaching staff

Andrew Pike

Andrew is a corporate finance advisor and valuation expert with more than 20 years of corporate finance and valuation experience. He is CEO of AN Valuations in Leiden, guest lecturer on valuation topics at UvA and Nyenrode, past chair of the Business Valuation Resource Panel (BVRP) of the Appraisal Foundation, and founding board member of the Europe chapter of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA).
