The ABS team includes Dr Zahra Kashanizadeh, Professor Henk Volberda, and Dr Somendra Narayan from the Strategy & International Business section (Innovation and Digital group).

The consortium’s project, titled 'DECIDE: Democratizing AI – Empowering Citizens through Transparent Decision-making,' focuses on making the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in decision-making more transparent, fair, and inclusive. By examining how AI systems can uphold democratic values and empower citizens, the project aims to promote responsible and socially beneficial AI applications.

The DECIDE project, coordinated by the University of Twente, is one of the consortia selected nationwide, receiving a total of €6.75 million in funding from NWO. The funding will be distributed among the universities in the consortium. The project will run until 2030 and brings together researchers from different Dutch universities and industry partners.

‘We are proud to contribute to this national effort to promote transparency and citizen empowerment in the age of AI,’ says Dr. Zahra Kashanizadeh.
