The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) recently welcomed around 60 scholars from across four continents for an international research workshop on AI and Entrepreneurship. The event was organised by Prof. Martin Obschonka, together with colleagues from the United States, Canada, and Belgium, with support from the 'Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice' (ETP) journal.

The workshop focused on how modern artificial intelligence is reshaping both entrepreneurship practice and research. From over 100 abstract submissions, around 40 of the best papers were selected for presentation and discussion. Several authors who had submitted their work to the ETP were also invited to take part.

Exchange of ideas

Two keynote lectures set the tone for the discussions. Michal Kosinski (Stanford University) explored the human and superhuman capacities of AI, while Tara Behrend (Michigan State University) offered a critical perspective, highlighting the importance of a human-centred approach and the risks of unreflective AI adoption.

Conference workshop

Prof. Obschonka was pleased with the success of the workshop. Many researchers from around the world had the opportunity to engage in constructive discussions on the role of AI in entrepreneurship. This exchange of ideas is essential for shaping responsible and innovative futures in research and practice.
