The 5th Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Conference (GEIC), hosted by ABS, was held at Roeterseiland and Science Park on 11 and 12 October. The theme of this year was Technology Entrepreneurship-The Driving Force of Contemporary Business and was chaired by Tsvi Vinig (ABS Entrepreneurship and Innovation section).
The visitors were welcomed by Jan Lintsen of the UvA’s executive board. The programme included contributions from Marc Salomon (Dean Amsterdam Business School), Alexander Rinnooy-Kan (University professor Economics and Business), Erik Stam (Dean Utrecht School of Economics), Peter van Tienderen (UvA faculty of Science), and Maarten de Rijke (UvA professor Artificial Intelligence), followed by panel discussion and parallel paper presentation sessions.
The conference was a great success and was featured in People’s Daily, one of China’s leading newspapers. Building on this success, the next GEIC will be hosted by Beijing Science and Technology (a leading think-tank organisation) and will be held in Beijing on 9 and 10 September 2019.
The GEIC was founded in 2014 by UvA’s Amsterdam Business School and Jilin University (China). The conference has become a leading international conference on entrepreneurship and innovation with special focus on China and establishing the UvA as an important voice on the topic.
