Blockchain applications for Pensions


Blockchain technology is designed to keep track of a ledger of transactions between agents of a virtual economy without the need of a central institution for coordination. Making use of elements from network theory, cryptography and economics, we slowly see real world autonomous applications arise from this new stack of technologies. The aim of this project is to investigate whether traditional financial agreements like pension contracts can be disinter-mediated, such that users are not required to trust a (local) central institution. We focus on designing an autonomous pension plan accessible for everyone with internet access at low cost. My research contributes to the security, robustness, and fairness of such systems.
