On Friday 15 September 2016 the ceremony of the Isaac Roet Prize 2016 was held during the business seminar UvA in Carré. The winner is Leana Budico, parttime student of the MBA at the Amsterdam Business School.
The jury has chosen her project “Developing a Systematic and Collaborative Program for Restoring Chisinau by Using Tactical Urbanist Techniques” not only because it fits very well the goal of the prize, but the jury also liked the idea of a grassroots movement to improve the lives of people in Moldova. There is good involvement of the people in Chisinau and the project clearly describes how the money will be spent. In addition, the jury agrees that the time spent by the student in this project and the fact that they are contributing a substantial amount of their own funds shows full commitment. All in all, this project will make the world better on a small and realistic scale.
Leana received the prize of €5000 to invest in her project this coming year. She has been invited to return to UvA in Carré next year to present the results of her project during the ceremony of the Isaac Roet Prize 2017. Those that wish to join the movement or offer their support to Leana’s project are invited to visit the website urbanconceptchisinau.md.
