The Operations Management staff is a group of about 30 people, consisting of faculty members, teaching staff, PhD students and affiliated faculty. We also have frequent visitors. Some of our staff is associated with the Institute of Business and Industrial Statistics (IBIS UvA). This institute is owned by the University of Amsterdam, and is seen internationally as a centre of expertise in Lean Six Sigma, operational excellence and industrial statistics.
Members of the section Operational Management do research and teach in a broad range of areas of operations management. The section Operations Management has four main areas of expertise: artificial Intelligence, optimisation & operations research, information systems and industrial statistics, which also work together on overlapping projects. To stimulate research in the area of analytics, and its positive impact on society, the initiative Analytics for a Better World was founded by Prof. Dick den Hertog. We are frequent publishers in the international scientific literature as well as the professional literature. Our members also teach in Bachelor's, Master's and Executive programmes. With our expertise in data science we are involved in almost all educational programmes and will start a new BSc on this topic this year.
Chair of the Operations Management section is Prof. Dick den Hertog. If you have a question related to the section Operations Management, please do not hesitate to contact us.
