Leadership & Management

The Leadership & Management section of the ABS is a relatively young section aiming to conduct and publish high-quality internationally recognised research and to provide high-quality teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels in these fields.

Research methods the group uses are diverse and themes on which group members currently publish include human resource management, ethical and charismatic leadership in organisations, team diversity, proactive and innovative behaviour, meta-analysis, selection and applicant reactions, the role of time, motivation and emotions, cross-cultural issues in OB and HRM such as expatriate management, and the consequences of project-based organising for employees and leadership.

Teaching includes basic courses on organisational psychology, organisation and management, research methods, and HRM as well as advanced courses on leadership, managing people strategically, performance management, cross-cultural and change management, and management consulting. Our objectives for the coming years include further improving and expanding our research and publications, strengthening our international ties and fully establishing this new group in terms of the different types of teaching provided for the Amsterdam Business School.
